Delta Bridges Charter School

DYNAMIC VISUAL LEARNING (DVL) AND INNOVATIVE TEACHING PRACTICES

DVL takes advantage of our knowledge of neurological science and child development to offer the students appropriate learning opportunities. We supercharge the developmental process for those students who need it and give all children the learning tools that gifted learners use. Teachers will be engaged in continuous professional development and training with a singular focus on maximizing each student’s individual potential.

CREDENTIALED PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATION
Delta Bridge’s staff will be California Credentialed Educators with credentials issued through the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).

 ACADEMIC RIGOR/PROJECT LEARNING

We expect mastery from all our students, not just the top percentage. Rigorous projects are planned and implemented allowing students to exercise critical thinking skills while learning. We even teach business skills to our students.

CHARACTER EDUCATION/RESPONSIBILITY
We will provide the students with the necessary foundation and guide them through the process that will result in each child demonstrating the highest qualities of character.

FAMILY STYLE LUNCHES
Teachers eat lunch with the students in a family-style environment. It is an opportunity for teachers to strengthen their relationships with the students and at the same time take advantage of this informal setting to be a mentor. (Yes, there will be a school lunch program with free and/or reduce cost lunches offered to students.)

TRADITIONAL ACADEMIC CALENDAR
Closely follows calendar of Stockton Unified, which is the same as other Delta K-8 Schools with same daily schedule (currently 8:25 to 3:10).

UNIFORMS
We want our focus to be on learning and getting along. Research clearly shows that schools with uniforms have fewer discipline problems and a greater sense of unity.

 SAFE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT
Delta Bridges is located on a secured campus (with play space and a large gym) that is not open to the general public during school hours.

SMALL SCHOOL SETTING
Delta Charter Schools has become synonymous with Personalized Education in San Joaquin County over the past decade. Delta Bridges will embrace the Delta Charter Families commitment to small school settings and personalized attention. There will be no more than 250 students on campus when we open in 2015. Bridges student numbers will grow modestly and will not grow to exceed the campus capacity of 450 students.

 MEASURES OF ACADEMIC PROGRESS (MAP)
Using MAP, Teachers provide students a personalized assessment experience that adapts to each student’s learning level. When teachers utilize MAP assessment data they identify essential information about what each student knows and is ready to learn within 24 hours.
