Delta Charter High - Ag Program

Welcome to the Delta Charter School Agriculture Department!

Agricultural Education prepares students for successful careers and a lifetime of informed choices in the global agriculture, food, fiber, and natural resources systems.
With the Delta Charter Schools campus in rural Tracy – it just made sense to create an Ag Ed. Department and boy were we right!

As of August 17, 2015, we have 5 full Ag classes – over 100 students! Due to the program’s popularity, we just added a zero period for an Ag leadership class, which is also open to students who could not fit one of the 5 Ag classes into their schedule. Zero period will meet Monday through Friday from 8:00 am – 8:50 am. Pretty amazing for our budding program!

All students who are enrolled in one of our Ag classes are automatically a member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) program. FFA, was founded in 1928 and is open to all students who want to be production farmers, teachers, doctors, scientists, business owners and more.

FFA allows students to get hands on experience through monthly Career Development Events (CDE), chapter meetings and community service events. Each Delta Charter Ag student will participate in at least 2 FFA events per semester. There is no shortage of FFA events with monthly FFA meetings, Delta Charters’ active CDE Teams, or participating in a community service event and event working on the Delta Charter School farm. Finally, each Delta Charter Ag student will take part in a Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) project. Each student will work in the agricultural industry in areas such as raising livestock, growing vegetables, doing landscaping work, work at a dairy and more. Students should be able to complete their SAE project in their classes and on the Delta Charter School farm.

The future of the Delta Charter Schools Agriculture Department and FFA Program is very bright. We encourage all parents, students and community members to get involved. Please do not hesitate to contact our Ag Advisors Mr. Mendonza and Ms. Havens should you have any questions, comments or concerns.
