COVID-19 exposure protocols
Hello NJESD families!
I hope you are all staying safe and healthy. I wanted to share some information with you all in regards to the current COVID-19 exposure protocols in the district. We are all working very hard to keep our students and staff safe and we need your help to ensure we are doing all we can to limit exposure and transmission.
1. If a student has symptoms they cannot come back to school until they have been symptom free for 72 hours. This includes any cold or flu-like symptoms, respiratory symptoms, and GI symptoms (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.),
2. If a student or staff member tests positive, they must quarantine for 10 days. They can come back after the 10th day if they are symptom free and have not had a fever for the last 24 hours (without using fever meds)
3. If they have been exposed to someone who is COVID positive, they can come back when: A. After the 10th day if they are symptom free or B. After the 7th day if they get a negative COVID test that is taken after the 5th day. They must be SYMPTOM FREE in either case.
4. If they are living with someone who is COVID positive, they must quarantine for 10 days from the start of symptoms. If they develop symptoms during that time or test positive themselves, the 10 days starts over from when they developed their symptoms or when they got their positive test.
If you have any questions or are unsure about a specific situation, please don’t hesitate to reach out to myself or your site secretary. I know it can be confusing, but we are here to help.
