Mrs. Miller has been a teacher at heart all her life and has been working with kids since she started teaching swimming in 1996. In 2016, she decided to make it official and peruse a teaching career. By the 2016-17 school year she had her first teaching assignment as a TK teacher in a standard classroom and then taught 3^rd grade. In 2018, Mrs. Miller started teaching at Delta Home Charter School where she greatly enjoys the personal connection she has with her students and coworkers.

Easily recognizable by the flower in her hair and usually bright colored clothing, Mrs. Miller has made it a habit to try to see the joy in the world around her. Despite a learning disability that continues to make arithmetic and spelling a challenge, math and writing have always been two of her favorite subjects. Her creative approaches to mathematical theory often help struggling students. She also teaches middle school Writer’s Workshop, where students are taught to utilize tools and strategies to enhance their writing skills.

When she is not in the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons. She also takes advantage of local dance classes as a continuation of her bachelor’s degree in dance from Scripps Women’s College. Her wide variety of studies includes, but is not limited to, the dance styles of ballet, jazz, modern, ballet folklorico, Bharatanatyam, swing and two years in an improvisational dance troop. Other movement training included karate, capoeira, and, most recently, long sword.

Mrs. Miller’s future goals include continuing her work at Delta Home Charter School as well as getting back into reenacting living history as either an ancient Roman with the Legio X or an ancient Gall warrior with the Gaesatae. She also desires to earn her master’s degree in Early Childhood Development and survive being a mother of teenage boys.
